Celebrating Milestones

Whether it's an anniversary, birthday, wedding, new baby, graduation, or new job, given the opportunity, people will join in festivities to mark the occasion. Organizational milestones should be no different.

e all love a good celebration. Whether it’s an anniversary, birthday, wedding, new baby, graduation, or new job, given the opportunity, people will join in festivities to mark the occasion.

Organizational milestones should be no different. Maybe you’ve just launched a new project or service that’s been in development for some time, or just served your thousandth customer, or tallied a great amount of volunteer service in the community. Whatever the reason, milestones present a great opportunity to let people know what you’re up to and allow them to be part of the fun. Here are a few reasons to celebrate these milestones:

  • People get to learn about the good work you’re doing.
  • You are reminded to pause and thank the people who made the milestone possible.
  • Presents a great excuse to throw a party (and invite those people you’re thanking).
  • It’s a reason to invite influential press and bloggers to help spread the word.
  • Great opportunity to create and spread shareable content on social.
  • Could be a great time for a new and nontraditional promotion for your donors or customers.

What are some good examples of milestone celebrations you’ve seen lately?
